I see an image framed in unusual light and color or witness a moment unfold that reveals the world in a new way and I capture it. Taking photographs frees whatever feeling is locked inside me and turns it into something tangible to share with others.

Carolina Beach, NC, USA, August 1, 2020, on an iPhone 8 plus
My husband and I took our younger children to the shore to mitigate months of Covid isolation. This photo captures an afternoon thunderstorm rolling in over Carolina Beach, North Carolina, as Hurricane Isaias approaches the eastern seaboard.

My husband John and I sailed our Caliber 33, Daily Alice, roundtrip from Minnesott Beach, North Carolina to Roanoke Island, Manteo, North Carolina, where we were married on the afternoon of January 8, 2018. Gale winds were blowing, but otherwise it was a gorgeous day. Our trip lasted six days and 230 nautical miles.

I live on the beautiful isle of Islay in Scotland, and I never set off for a walk without my camera. The majestic seascapes, the moorlands, farmlands, the small but atmospheric woods, and the ever-changing Hebridean weather are an unending source of delight.
