crabs
Frankie McMillan
the paddle crab tends to move to deeper
water as they age. there they lie submerged
in sediment only the eyes, the antennae
exposed
how I love
the word, carapace, the light red terracotta of shell
my finger tracing the sharp serrations
the claws of stubble, so stiff
my mouth is an ocean of foam
