The Lighted Path

Poet: Paul Holler

No one sees the

old fir in the

noon-day light

eclipsed by a new day

and dusted with snow.

But when the setting sun

slips behind and

pushes forth its past

and writes its story

across the dusk

its trunk creaks

its roots strain

and I, dusted with grey,

walk into its labyrinth

and follow the path

its shadows mark

in the steadfast light.

Paul Holler is a writer of short stories, flash fiction, poetry, articles and interviews with noted authors.  His previous work as appeared in Flash, The MacGuffin, Freshwater Literary Review, Eclectica , Ekphrastic Review and other journals.
